Discussed the different types of business ownership (sole proprietorship, partnership, corporations, etc.) and how they relate to risks and rewards. Most of this is covered in Ch. 16. Then you had time to work on the Ch. 17 assignment which is due today.

As promised, today is TEST DAY (yay!... choke, gag, swear, cough, etc.). Please take this test today in class on Agency and Employment Law (Chapters 13-15). You may use your notes (yay!) but you may NOT use the textbook or my website study guide. Take your time, read the questions carefully since legal language can be confusing. You have the full class period to take this test of 50 questions (T-F, multiple choice, and matching). No, really, TAKE YOUR TIME and READ CAREFULLY. Now have fun.

Once the everyone is done with the test, I'll discuss different business types in class. Additionally, I would like you to read Ch. 17 (pgs. 376-391) and work on the Ch. 17 assignment which is due on Thursday, April 22, 2010.

After a review of Ch. 15 on Employment Law, read Ch. 16 (Forms of Business) and work on the Ch. 16 assignment. This assignment is due on Friday, April 16, 2010. Plan on a test next Tuesday on Chapters 13, 14, and 15.

Late start Monday today. We used the time to catch up on assignments and to do a Law Case Treasure Hunt. Something I started last term where we take some time in class to find law cases online and discuss them in class. This time we were looking at Workman's Compensation cases.

You will look at five acts and compare and contrast information you find in the text and on the Internet to complete an analysis. This Fair Wages and Benefits assignment is due on Monday, April 12, 2010.

Students will gain an understanding of the law as it relates to them currently and the implications of the law in their future lives as well as the lives of their family and friends. They will also work to gain an understanding of basic legal vocabulary.

The course will include an understanding of the court system at the local, state, and national level. Students will gain an understanding of contract law, their rights and responsibilities as citizens, utilization of financial transactions, employment and agency relationships, and the understanding of the regulations governing different types of business organizations. As a culminating project students will participate in one or more mock trials.
