LESS THAN A WEEK UNTIL EVERYTHING IS DUE. NO WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 2:15PM ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2010. NO EXCEPTIONS! Oh, and have a nice day.
Friday, March. 12, 2010
Your script for the audio assignment is due today. Also, you need to realize that ALL assignments are due a week from this coming Wednesday. Since it is the end of third term and Spring Break follows, there is NO opportunity for late work. (You are now allowed to panic).
Mon., Mar. 8 through Wed., Mar. 10, 2010
We will discuss audio, audio editing, sound FX, story, scripting and Old Time Radio (OTR) programs today. After this discussion, you must start on your audio program assignment by writing a script. Your (or your team's) completed script is due by Friday, March 12, 2010 or before you start recording. (If you are interested in seeing what I am looking for in your story development and audio production, have a look at the rubric). Note: Samples can be heard in the podcast section.
Mon., Feb. 22 through Thur., Mar. 4, 2010
I have looked at the storyboards for your team video or individual animation projects that have been turned in and listed the team members on the teams page. If you have not turned in a storyboard, time is running out! This assignment is due on March 19th, only 3.5 weeks away!
Wed., Feb. 10 through Thur., Feb. 18, 2010
After viewing a couple of your videos from last semester, we' ll have a short discussion on what needs improvement (mainly story, editing, and story... yes, I said story twice intentionally). This is followed by the new video assignment for this term. Either you can do a team video project (you select your teams) or you can do an individual animation project if you are not comfortable working with others. Yes, your team can be comprised of people in my 1st period class an you if you like. You must have the following completed and ready for grading:
- Storyboard due by Thursday, February 18, 2010 or before you start animating in Flash.
- Completed animation or game (BOTH .fla and .swf files) ready for showing/demonstration to the class by Monday, March 22, 2010.
- Evaluations (self evaluation is required if not in a group): Wednesday, March 24, 2010.
Note that the deadlines are the last week of the third term. You may have noticed last time how fast the time flies. You'd better get busy immediately since there will be no cushion for late work!
Monday, February 8, 2010
As mentioned at the beginning of this semester, you will have two portfolio assignments. One in the third term and one in the fourth. The third term portfolio assignment is a check-off assignment where I will come around to make sure you have set everything up for your portfolio like put everything in one folder and that you have saved, or redone, the assignments that are required for your portfolio. The third term portfolio assignment is due on Wednesday, February 10, 2010.
Thursday, February 4, 2010
Remember to bring your Media Release Form to class signed! (If I don't already have one on file). There will be a film crew and a photo crew next week in school. They want to showcase my lab and students. Therefore, you will need to return to me a Media Permission Form first thing next week. Click on the link to download a copy if you lost the one I gave you. If I don't have one of these on file, you will be sent to the library (not the computer lab in the library) during filming.
Wed., Jan. 27 through Tue., Feb. 2, 2010
After I come around to check your shape and motion tweens, I would like you to start on your individual Flash animation assignment. This assignment is due on Thursday, February 4, 2010. You will need to zip two separate files (.fla and .swf) in a folder and submit by email to me at rathke at teacher dot com.
Thur., Jan. 21 through Mon., Jan. 25, 2010
Welcome back! I discussed what is expected of you this term. First, we will do another video project. We will also organize our work for the eventual portfolio project. And we will attempt some animation. I started that by explaining just what animation really is... a succession of still images shown to us too fast to discern one from another. Then we opened up Adobe Flash and started playing with it. I explained what a 'tween' was and showed you the resource page, with its link to the Flash Tutorial page, where you will find tutorials to help you create a motion and a shape tween. Hopefully, you will be able to demonstrate one of each to me in class. This is your first assignment of the third term (there is no assignment sheet for this, just create one of each at your computer).
