Let me know when you have completed your final portfolio assignment. I will be coming around to burn it at your computer upon completion. The copy I burn is for grading and remains in my possession. If you want your own copy, bring in a disk (probably a DVD) so we can burn a copy for you. Once you are done with your portfolio, start working on the next assignment: creating a logo for a client. (This assignment will not be included in your portfolio). This assignment is due on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
Tue., May 11 through Thur., May 13, 2010
Today you take the Utah State Skills Assessment (final exam). When you're done, continue working on your final portfolio assignment which is due on Thursday, May 13, 2010. (For seniors, that deadline is absolute because I have to confirm failing grades for graduation on Friday, May 14, 2010).
Mon., May 3 through Fri., May 7, 2010
Showed you how to set up a site in Dreamweaver and what is necessary to do to create navigation in HTML for your portfolio disk. The final portfolio assignment is due on Thursday, May 13, 2010. (For seniors, that deadline is absolute because I have to confirm failing grades for graduation on Friday, May 14, 2010).
Tue., Apr. 27 through Thur., Apr. 29, 2010
This week I will come around to grade part 2 of the Graphic Short Story assignment where I check off your progress. You should have completed at least three panels of your comic so that I can gauge what you are planning to complete. Graphic Short Story assignment part 3 is now posted and is due no later than Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
Mon., Apr. 19 through Fri., Apr. 23, 2010
Now that you have completed the first part of the Graphic Short Story assignment and turned in your script/outline with your storyboard, now you can start on the second part of the Graphic Short Story assignment where you actually create the publication. Have a minimum of three panels completed to show your progress (graded at your computer) by Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
Tue., Apr. 13 through Thur., Apr. 15, 2010
Showed you some examples students did in previous years for the Graphic Short Story assignment. Hopefully this helped you a bit with the planning. Next week part one is due where you submit your outline/script and storyboards.
Mon., Apr. 5 though Tue., Apr. 13, 2010
Spring Break is never nearly long enough, is it?
If you needed additional time to complete third term assignments, please do so this week. If you need to check on third term note, click here.
Additionally, today I'll discuss the ADDIE Design Model. This is used as a way for educators to design lessons and is included in the Multimedia core as a method to design projects. I'll introduce ADDIE to you in a Keynote presentation (here's a PowerPoint for you Windows users). This will be on the final exam so it is a good idea that you become familiar with it.
Lastly, you will need to start on the next project: A Graphic Novel. Well, not a whole novel, that takes too much time. Let's call it a Graphic Short Story. This assignment is in two parts. The first is writing the story and creating a storyboard. The second part, when it is revealed to you is basically taking digital images of yourself (and as many others as necessary) and converting them to a cartoon-like look in Photoshop to create that graphic novel look. You will also be able to create your surroundings in Photoshop so you can place yourself in any location or situation necessary. This assignment will eventually be compiled in Adobe InDesign into a publication, then we can export to PDF for ePub for digital reading.
The first part of the Graphic Short Story assignment is due Monday, April 19, 2010.
