Favorite Vehicle Web Page

Objective:
Standard 2: Plan and design a website.

Standard 3: The student will use HTML to create attractive web pages.

Learning Outcomes:
Students will achieve a moderately to highly skilled status by showing proficiency in the following:

  • Use proper naming conventions and file structure. Understand file types and filename extensions.
  • Create paragraphs, line breaks horizontal rules, ordered and unordered list, and tables. Emphasize proofreading, spell checking and grammar.
  • Use headings and font enhancements (bold, italics, etc.).
  • Create hyperlinks and mail links.
  • Modify page properties. For example: background, font (styles and colors), links. Insert images and include attributes (such as alt, vspace and hspace, size, align, etc).
  • Use colors to change backgrounds and text.

Coursework Procedure:
You must find a car you like on the Internet and download two sample images. These images should either be in .gif or .jpg format. Neither image should be larger than 400kb each to allow for room on your .html page. You will design a page that pays respect to your favorite car. Start off by creating a folder called "Car" in your folder that is in the Documents folder on the computer. Your web page must be called "index.html" in that folder. Your car web page must contain the following elements:

  1. It must have a title that is reflected in the title bar. It must contain a body tag that defines colors for text, background color (no background image, just a background color), link color and visited link color. Note: All colors must work together so that the page is readable. It must have a heading at the top of the page. It must have two images in the page. It must contain horizontal rule. It must contain font tags It must contain at least 5 paragraphs (not five lines!) of text describing your favorite car.
  2. At least one link to a site of interest related to your car.

Due Date(s) and Submission Instructions:
You must complete your web page (.html) by the end of class Thursday, September 1, 2011. Be sure to save it to your USB drive. I will grade it at your computer on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
