Auto-Tune Found & Original Video

Objective:
Standard 2: Students will demonstrate the ability to perform basic computer functions on a standard platform (PC and/or Mac).

Standard 5: Students will participate in individual and team (group) activities.

Standard 6: Students will produce various forms of media.

Standard 8: Students will use multimedia tools and authoring skills to develop a complete and functional interactive multimedia team/individual project.

Learning Outcomes:
Students will achieve a moderately to highly skilled status by showing proficiency in the following:

  • Demonstrate oral, written, and/or technological communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work individually in the completion of multimedia projects.
    • Demonstrate personal initiative in problem solutions
    • Complete projects according to specified deadlines
  • Determine when to produce original materials (graphics, audio, video, animations, etc.) and when to use copyrighted and/or royalty-free materials.
    • Obtain permission and give credit to owners before using copyrighted
      materials
    • Understand and follow fair-use guidelines and copyright laws as they apply to education and industry (see appendix for complete guidelines).
  • Import and incorporate various forms of media needed for a project.
  • Utilize “timer events”
    • Dissolves, transitions, animations, etc.
  • Create digital video
    • Demonstrate proper filming techniques
    • Capture video from an original or existing source
    • Edit video
    • Demonstrate an understanding of analog vs. digital video
    • Convert video files to appropriate formats for use with at least one of the
      following: CD-ROM, DVD or Internet

Coursework Procedure:
You will create a mashup of found video and your own original footage which you will auto-tune into a music video. The entire assignment will be worth 100 points. The point breakdown is as follows:

  • 30 points for your project plan. Basically, you must submit your found video. (Required before you can check out equipment).
  • 70 points for your completed individual video.

You will create a digital video from some original footage (news, sports, whatever you can find on the Internet) and include original video footage that you shoot that can be shown in class. To do so, you will have to follow this procedure:

  1. Find some original video with dialogue from some source (Internet, ripped from a DVD, etc.).
  2. Using that found footage, supplement it with some of your own original footage.
  3. Auto-tune and edit this video into a cohesive music video running from 2-5 minutes in length.

Due Date(s) and Submission Instructions:
You must have the following completed and ready for grading:

  • Found video and project plan due by Thursday, January 26, 2012 or before you start shooting video.
  • Completed final edit of your video, burned to DVD or otherwise ready for showing/demonstration to the class by Friday, February 17, 2012.
